Parents/legal guardians have the right to appeal a decision of a criteria-based magnet school or pathway. Eligibility lottery schools can be appealed only for concerns around eligibility. Individuals appealing the decision must submit a completed appeal form requesting review of the selection decision. Grounds for appeal include, but are not limited to, errors in scoring, untestable characteristics evident in student performances, and other circumstances.
The written appeal request must:
Include reasons for the appeal and any supporting documentation, to support reconsideration.
Supporting evidence can be submitted through this form within 10 school days of receiving the decision.
The appropriate directors will review the request and consider the supporting evidence.
A decision will be made by 10 days after receipt of the written request for reconsideration. The parent/legal guardian will be notified of the decision in writing. The decision will be final.
